Hold onto your hats, content creators! Facebook is making a change that’ll impact how your Live videos are stored. Starting February 19, 2025, things are going to look a little different. Here’s the scoop on what’s changing and how you can stay ahead of the game. 🌟
What’s Changing?
After February 19, 2025, your Facebook Live videos won’t live forever (we know, sad face). They’ll only be available for 30 days after you go live. Here’s what you can do during that window:
Replay or Clip It: Share parts of your live video as Reels.
Download It: Grab the video and store it on your device or in the cloud.
Delete It: If it's served its purpose, hit that delete button.
Once the 30 days are up, your video will vanish into the digital ether—poof! Gone from both your Facebook page and Meta’s servers. No backup, no recovery, unless you’ve downloaded it or transferred it to cloud storage ahead of time.
Important Dates to Mark 🗓️
30-Day Retention: Your Live video stays on your Page/Profile for 30 days.
After 30 Days: Bye-bye, video! It’s gone from your account and Meta’s servers.
Notification: You’ll get an email and Facebook notification when this kicks in.
90-Day Window: After the change, you’ve got 90 days to download or transfer your videos to the cloud before they disappear.
6-Month Extension: Need more time? You can extend the deletion date by 6 months, but only once. After that, it’s permanently gone. 😱
How to Save Your Videos Like a Pro 🔥
Don’t let your content slip away! Here are your options to make sure your videos stick around:
Download All Your Videos: Grab them all in one go, and keep them safe on your device or in the cloud.
Use the Activity Log: Head to your Activity Log and download multiple videos from specific dates.
Download Individual Videos: Download videos one by one via Meta Business Suite or your profile/Page.
Just make sure you have full Facebook access or are the original broadcaster of the live video to download it. Better safe than sorry, right?
